Topic: THE HIGHEST BIDDER OF YOUR SOUL
Text: Romans 7: 15-25
18: For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
20:Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
23: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
24: O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Today’s topic also sounds strange, but real, let me start by saying your greatest asset is your soul, why is it an asset? Because God puts you in charge of your soul, how? Your choices are respected as long as you live on the planet, Earth.
The major key players in the sales of your soul are: YOURSELF, DEVIL, and GOD, it is you that determines the destiny and eternity of your soul. There is a willpower presence within you, your consent to the events of your life matters, and your reactions to events that occur without your consent matter.
Yourself is the biggest player in the sales of your soul, let me clear the air a little here: when God made us in He allows to take decisions of our lives, He never imposed Himself on us. You want to ask; why are you separating me from my soul by saying myself is the biggest player?
The answer is here: a man is made up of spirit, soul and body, but the human body, which will not live forever seems to gain preeminence over the soul that will live forever. Apostle Paul calls the body, body of the death.
It is your body that plays the role of self in your life: how do I mean? If it is your body that demands for food, for sex, for money, good cars, good house. It is your body that feels pains when hurt, it is your body that feels the insult when you’re insulted, in fact, the body demands so much, so when economists say, ‘ human wants are insatiable ‘ they are referring to the demands and desires of human body, the body can never come to a point of satisfaction.
It is the body that makes a man desires another man’s wife, or a woman desires another woman’s husband. The body makes you desire another car when nothing is wrong with the one you have, the body can make a man do anything at the detriment of his soul. Can I shock you? Devil does not have a bit power to drive you to hell, he only takes advantage of the unsatisfiable desires of your body. Your body is the highest bidder of your soul, if you try to meet all the desires of your body you will drive your soul to hell.
Apostle Paul spoke in clear terms in 1 Corinthians 9:27: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that… I myself should be a castaway. If you don’t want to be a castaway, cast into hell, you must always keep your body under subjection; get rid of lust, greed, fashion, inordinate desire for sex. God bless you.
