Topic: TRADING YOUR SOUL
Text: Mark 8:34-38
37: Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Glory to God who expands the scriptures in our heart, the teaching on the soul of a man has blessed many lives. Today’s topic looks strange, someone might think I probably want to type ‘ trading your sorrow ‘, no sir/ma, I actually mean ‘ Trading Your Soul ‘. Can I shock you? Everyone trades his or her soul, you want to say, ‘ how do you mean?Just follow me.
As I said earlier in previous teachings, man is the only intelligent being that is allowed by the creator to express his will, he can make choices, take decisions, he is not robotic, he is not programmed to function in a particular way, his decision determines his destiny and eternity, read my write up for last week Monday for details.
Jesus speaking in our text said, ‘ or what shall a man give in exchange (trading) for his soul ‘, He meant every man exchanges his soul for something, some people have sold their soul for money, positions, influence, fame, some are selling their soul for pleasures of this world.
Some people have sold their conscience, they no longer see evil as evil, devil gives some people money and fame after entering into covenant with them. You want to say I do not belong to any of these, please wait a minute, a compromise of your faith in God is an exchange for your soul, how do I mean? Mark 8:38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
Jesus was clear in the above scripture, your denial of Christ is a point of sales (POS). Please, let me enjoy my life as I want, you are at the POS of your soul if you make such statement. Your acceptance of Christ is also a point of sales of your soul (POS), how do I know? Mark 8:35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.
Let me quickly talk about the market places of your soul:
1, Yourself: as I said earlier, God allows every man to take decisions about his life, he won’t impose Himself on anyone, you can keep to yourself, and live your life as you want; that is the reason you see wicked people living longer than you expect, living to please yourself is at the detriment of your soul.
2, Devil: some people have sold their soul to the devil, I don’t need to expatiate this.
3,Jesus: God expects all of us to surrender our souls to Him through His son Jesus, at this point Jesus is the POS. Read what Jesus said in Mark 8:34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. Can you notice ‘ let him deny himself? ‘ I will continue from here on Sunday. Surrender all to Jesus to save your soul from hell. God bless you.

* I surrender my life to you Lord, I don’t want to lose my soul to hell.
