Topic: ENGAGING YOUR MIND
Text: Romans 12:2
2: Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]. Amplified.
One thing that differentiate human beings from all other creatures is the mind. Human beings are characterized by superior intelligence and that has to do with the mind. Man is not robotic in nature, he is an intelligent being, allowed by God to take decisions by himself.
Man is not programmed to function in a particular way, he is made amidst issues of life, and given intelligent mind to think his way through to find solutions to problems and challenges around him.
The mind is responsible for one’s thought, every man his a product of his thought, look at it here: Prov. 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:..’ God allows man in the environment he finds himself and give him what he needs to better his life, his mind.
Where you’re now in life is a function decisions you have taken over the years, how do I mean? Your action is the product of your decision, while your experience is the product of your action. This is how it flows from your mind, your thoughts birth your decisions while your decisions birth your actions, and your actions determine your experience.
I know several people will have objection to this, let me clear the air: sometimes your good decisions result into bad experiences, the reason is because the decision is not taken at the appropriate time. Our text today explains that, I love the scriptures, it is complete, ‘…that you may prove what is good, acceptable and perfect will of God. It means not everything that is good is always acceptable, and not everything that is acceptable by men is the perfect will of God.
So if I do what is good but not acceptable, I won’t get the best result, if it is acceptable by men but not God’s will for my life, I won’t get the best of life. Now you want to ask; How do I get it right? It is not difficult beloved, the answer is in our passage; BY RENEWING YOUR MIND, renewing your mind always is important because the things you go through are capable of destabilizing your mind, challenges can make your mind unsettled, and when your mind is unsettled you can’t take right decisions.
Renewing your mind does great wonder called transformation, it means by renewing your mind your life gets transformed, if you are poor, you will become rich, if you’re week, you will become strong, if you’re humiliated, you will be celebrated. I will continue from here next Monday. God bless you.
