Topic: THE GREAT PROVIDER 3
Text: Genesis 26:1-35 KJV
1 And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.
2 And the Lord appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:
3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;
12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him.
The Almighty God is the one called the great provider, from ages past till now, God has been meeting the needs of men in a divine way that surpasses human understanding. Even in the midst of famine, God does provide.
From our text above, there was a great famine in the land of the Philistines and Isaac wanted to relocate to Egypt because of the famine but by divine instruction from God through a revelation, he remained in Philistines even in the midst of that great famine. As Isaac remained in the land, God proved to him that He can suspend the course of nature to bless a man, He showed Himself as the great provider, blessing Isaac with the harvest of an hundred folds that same year of terrible famine, meaning the territory where Isaac dwelled in the land of the Philistines did not experience draught like the rest, What a miracle?. God blessed Isaac so great that the Philistine became envious of him, I decree into your home, that God will bless you, right before the very eyes of your enemies in Jesus Name
Beloved, at this point it is important to note that Isaac did the following before he could experience God’s great provision.
* Isaac knew God, that’s why God could appear to him and promised He will be with him (Genesis 26:2-3). Do you know God? Is God with you?
* Isaac obeyed divine instruction (Genesis 26:2-3). Do you obey God?
* He sowed in that land even though there was famine (Genesis 26:12). Isaac did not fold his arms saying (giving excuses), there was famine, he still laboured and sowed before God could bless his seeds. Dearly beloved, what do you want God to bless? nothing (emptiness) or something? Isaac has something at hand that God could bless, so what do you have at hand that God can bless. Think on these things…. God bless you.
PRAYER:
* Father, you are the great provider, please bless me, bless my home and bless our labour, work and effort in life in Jesus Name.
