Prevailing Voice Daily 3rd April

3rd April
Topic: ICHABOD 2
Text: 1 Samuel 4:19-21KJV
19 And his daughter in law, Phinehas’ wife, was with child, near to be delivered: and when she heard the tidings that the ark of God was taken, and that her father in law and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and travailed; for her pains came upon her.
20 And about the time of her death the women that stood by her said unto her, Fear not; for thou hast born a son. But she answered not, neither did she regard it.
21 And she named the child Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father in law and her husband.
From our text above, Ichabod means glory is departed. Everyone is made with glory but not everyone lives with glory, some lives are without glory because they lost it or exchange it. One major cause of lost glory is sin.p

  • SIN: This is the major cause of lost glory, many have lost their glory on the altar of adultery, fornication, disobedience, greed, covetousness e.t.c, Gehazi lost his glory of becoming the next great prophet in Israel after his master Elisha because of greed and covetousness. He exchanged his glory for leprosy just because of the quest for wealth (2 Kings 5).

In Genesis 25:29-34, Esau also exchanged the glory of divine inheritance being the first son of Isaac, he traded his glory and the blessings of firstborn hood for a plate of portage from his younger brother Jacob. Esau despise his glory of divine inheritance and gave it to his brother, he sold his birthright to his brother for food, in later years the scripture said he sought for it with tears but could never recover it. (see Hebrews 12:17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.)
Reuben also lost his glory when he committed adultery with his father’s concubine and instead of blessing from his father he received curses (Genesis 49:3-4).
Beloved, like Gehazi, Esau and Reuben many have exchanged their glory on the altar of greed, covetousness and most especially on fornication or adultery. Only God can restore the lost glory if only you can repent and seek God in prayer and obedience to his words. God bless you.
*Father, by your mercy, restore to me every of my lost glory in Jesus Name.
1Kings 19 Matthew 19.
