Topic: DIVINE REST
Text: Matthew 11:28-30 KJV
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Life on earth is full of struggles, labouring to make ends meet and to have basic things of life such as food, clothing and shelter among many others come with a lot of hard work and struggles. Also beyond the physical, there are lots of struggles in the spiritual which are characterised by problems, challenges, difficulties and manifestation of the works and powers of darkness. Many believe money brings rest, but there are many things money cannot do, that’s why it said that the rich also cry.
Dear reader, everyone on earth desire rest, but there is no true rest available anywhere in this world, no world system guarantees absolute rest, not even the pension scheme for retirees guarantees rest for them after retirement. True rest is divine and it comes from God, and the starting point of divine rest is through salvation in Jesus Christ.
From our text above, Jesus gave a call to all that labour (weary) and heavy laden (burdened) to come and receive rest from him. Beloved, no rest for sinners in this life not even in the next life beyond this earth, sin itself is a load, meaning any one who lives in sin is a load carrier, burden carrier and certainly a man who carries load is suffering and has no rest. The only one who can take away the load of sin from you is Jesus Christ. Acceptance of God’s salvation through Jesus is the sure way to divine rest, all you need to do to accept God’s salvation are:
* Acknowledge you are a sinner and you need rest
* Confess, repent from your sins and forsake them
* Believe in Jesus for salvation
* Accept Jesus as your lord and saviour. God bless you
PRAYER
* Father, give me divine rest from struggles of life.
