PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
13th March
Topic: JONAH IN THE SHIP
Text: Jonah 1:1-17KJV
2 Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.
3 But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.
4 But the Lord sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken.
5 Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay, and was fast asleep.
From our text above, Jonah was sent by God to a nation for an assignment so precious to God, but Jonah was not ready to go and so he was on the run away from God’s presence and then went to board a ship going Tarshish. This ship has on board, business men who were going about their work and businesses and were expected to have a successful trip to Tarshish but for Jonah in their ship, their journey was not going to be peaceful as they desired and it was probably a trip they would never forget in their life time.
Jonah was not a wrong person to sail with on a ship or to journey with in life, as a matter of fact being an anointed of God, he was supposed to be a right person to be associated with or partner with, but in this case where he was on the run from God, he certainly was the wrong person for those businessmen to sail with to Tarshish. God troubled the sea with so much tempest that they all feared they would die, they even had to cast off their luggage and their valuables (a great loss to their business) just to lighten the ship yet they were not save until they finally knew that Jonah was the problem and threw him into the sea.
Dearly beloved, such people like Jonah still exist in life, if you have Jonah in the ship of your life, your journey in life could be very difficult, and you could suffer a great loss of valuables or even a great loss if they are your business partner. Please take note they are most likely not the wrong people to associate with, but the fact that they partner with you in business or attach themselves to you in a bid to run away from God’s assignment or God’s call upon their lives could make things difficult for you.
