PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
10th March
Topic: A GOOD LEGACY 3
Text: Proverbs 22:1 KJV
1 A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold
A legacy is something that is handed down from one period of time to another period of time or from a generation to another generation.
Last week we considered Abraham as a good biblical example of a man who left a divine inheritance for his generations even to all believers who can connect by faith.
Today, we want to consider a biblical example who left bad legacy for his generation.
GEHAZI: In 2 Kings 5, Gehazi was a servant of Elisha, and by order of transfer, he was meant to be the next Prophet in Israel who will declare the mind of God to Israel and be their spiritual leader or representative before God. That alone would have been a very good legacy to be left for his generations, his children and children’s children would have been prophets or at the least be called the sons of the prophet, but Gehazi, rubbish his destiny and that of his generations because of greed for money. Gehazi exchange the prophetic anointing he would have obtained from Elisha his master for a generational curse of leprosy. There was no record that Gehazi’s generation were rich, which was basically what he was greedy about but certainly there was record that his generations were leprous, what a terrible legacy he left for his generation.
Dearly beloved, our text says a good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, riches are good legacies but a good name is preferred, however leaving a generational curse even with great riches is worse. God bless you
PRAYER:
* Father, every generational curse from my fore fathers operating upon my life and my generation, be broken in Jesus Name.
