PREVAILING VOICE DAILY

Topic: THE PRICE OF THE KINGDOM
Text: Luke 9:23 KJV
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
Everything has a price and everyone has a price to pay for everything, even the Kingdom of heaven has a price to be paid to make it. From our text above Jesus summarised the price to be paid by anyone for the kingdom into these;
* Deny yourself,
* Take up your cross daily,
* Follow Jesus.
In Matthew 19:18-26, a young rich man came to Jesus desiring to know the price of the Kingdom that Jesus preached about, he was proud to say he has fulfilled the first condition that Jesus told him, which was obeying God’s commandment (honour your father and mother, do not commit murder, adultery, fornication e.t.c), Jesus then went further to give a second and a third condition which were “sell all that you have, give it to the poor so as to have treasures in heaven, then when this is done, come and follow me”. The young rich man could not fulfil the second condition let alone the third, because he had great wealth, he could not let go of his earthly riches for the purpose of the Kingdom he sought after and so he went away sorrowful because he was not ready the pay the price for the Kingdom.
In Matthew 13:44, Jesus told a parable which gave a description of what the price of the Kingdom is like. It says ” Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.” That parable simply explains that the Kingdom of heaven is worth more than all that a man can ever achieved or acquire on earth. The following points strike my thought in that parable above
* heaven is like a hidden treasures.
* only a man found it (not many people meaning its an individual thing)
* the man sold all he had with joy not with complain
* he bought the treasure with his entire life achievement.
Beloved, in summary the Kingdom of heaven has a price, I must say its costly but the cost is worth paying and its worth sacrificing all for. God bless you.
PRAYER:
* Father, help me not to lose your kingdom in Jesus Name.
