Topic: THOUGH RICH; YET POOR
Text: Luke 16:19-31 KJV
19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
We have only one life to live on earth and after that another life exist beyond the earth called life in eternity (forever). In view of these two kinds of life that is on earth and in eternity, we have four categories of people that exist:
- THE POOR YET RICH: These people are poor among the classes of men on earth, they probably are not known or recognised at all in their society, the society may consider them as the less privilege just like Lazarus in our text above. They are considered as those who have nothing yet in God’s sight they have everything, they are rich in their relationship with God, their soul prospers in the matters of God’s kingdom and great treasures are laid for them in eternity with God in heaven and if such die even though poor on earth they have mansions awaiting them in heaven. (Please note that their being poor is not a factor to make heaven, in fact God their father owns silver and gold so they have every right to live in riches on earth)
-
THE RICH YET POOR: These categories class themselves to have everything money can buy, they have power, money, influence and affluence on earth but to God they have absolutely nothing, they are rached and terribly poor spiritually just like the rich man in our text above and if they die as such they most likely have no place with God in eternity but with the devil in hell.
Beloved, according to 3 John 2, the prosperity of your soul (richness of your soul before God) is first and paramount before your physical or bodily prosperity. The reason is simple, your soul prosperity will sustain you in life in eternity which is forever while your physical prosperity is only for this life time. Think on these things. God bless you
PRAYER:
* Father, let me prosper physically just as my soul prosper spiritually in Jesus Name.
