Prevailing Voice Daily 18th February

PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
18th February
Topic: SANITIZING YOUR SPIRIT
Text : 2 Corinthians 7:1
1: Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Sanitizing is defined as make less offensive or acceptable by removing objectionable features. The spirit of a man can be vexed just like the Spirit of God, sometimes, some things happen that hit your spirit, makes your spirit weary, you are offended to the point that you feel it in your spirit.
You feel such pains when offenses is coming from someone or people you least expected. It is important you understand the importance of keeping your spirit healthy, your spirit is your only link to God, it is the medium of communication with God, that is what God’s Spirit relate with to minister to you.
Have you observed that sometimes in the place of prayer your mind wanders about? At other times you meditate on how someone hurt you while praying, and end up not enjoying the prayer session, all these are products of the offenses that hit your spirit.
Bitterness and anger as a result of these offenses weigh you down in the place of prayer and sometimes you don’t feel like going to church, it is absolutely important you sanitize your spirit from all these defilements because you will eventually loss touch with God if not properly handled, the source of your life, and blessings. Every wise believer will not allow the activities of men affect his or her relationship with God. For sweet fellowship with the Holy Spirit, we must let go of bitterness, anger, wrath, malice, and everything that weighs our spirit down.
David is a good example of what I am sharing here, in 1Samuel 30 his enemies invaded Ziklag where his family resides, burnt it down, took his wives and children, and the love ones of his men, look at verse 4; Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep. This was a great hurt to their spirits. They were so hurt that the men spake of stoning David to death.
Look at verse 6 of 1 Samuel 30; And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God. He encouraged himself in the Lord, that’s a way to sanitize your spirit, look away from men and their actions, ignore the disappointments, hurt, the grief, the pains, the loss or losses, look unto God, get your strength in the assurance that God is still there for you.
David sought God, he didn’t allow his spirit to be down, or hurt to the point that he would loss touch with his source of blessings, and you can always trust God, God spoke and he recovered all and came back with great spoils, you will also recover all and get great blessings in return. Keep your spirit healthy always. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Help me Lord to get rid of bitterness and everything that defies my spirit.
