PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
7th February
Topic : GRACE FOR GREAT WORKS ( part 4 )
Text: Galatians 2:20,21
20; I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
21; I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
As I round off this series of teaching on GRACE, it is absolutely important I talk about the ABUSE OF GRACE, this is common among Christians. Some ministers have so much watered the teaching on grace that it has led to gross abuse. Let me give example of what I am talking about; some pastors have taught grace to the point that, it does not have anything to do with what you do on the outside, and that account for indecent dressing of their members.
It is important I say this: Grace enables you to live right, and not a license to commit sin, and think you can always be forgiven at any given time. Apostle Paul, the writer of our passage, is a product of grace, grace transformed him from one extreme of life ( a killer, persecutor ) to the peak of his life ( an Apostle of Christ, Evangelist, a missionary, a teacher, a miracle worker), in our today’s passage he tells us how he was able to achieve that.
Before I share how he achieved that, let me say that this; liken grace to economic power, Money, anyone who wants to build wealth understands that he must not abuse money, God releases grace on us so that we can fulfill our destinies, but abuse of it will make us remain where we are.
Listen to Apostle Paul in Roman 6:1,2; What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? In Galatians 2:21 he said ‘ I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain ‘. Sin reduces and eventually extinct grace from the life of a man.
Paul was crucified with Christ, left his canal desires, gave his pleasures of sin, that is a way to keep grace on the increase. Committing sin and coming to ask for forgiveness time and again is an abuse of grace, moving close to a strange woman is an abuse of grace because you will soon fall. The understanding that God is always merciful, and I can always get mercy anytime I commit sin tends towards abuse of grace, it is like spending money anyhow, and thinking I can always get money. If you must achieve great things in life, you must keep God’s grace upon your life on the increase by abstaining from sin. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Help me Lord not to frustrate your grace upon my life.
* Let’s receive great grace as we wait upon God today.
* Help me to achieve great things this year in Jesus name.
