Topic: OVERCOMING TEMPTATIONS ( part 3 )
Text: Matthew 15:11,18
11; Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
18; But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
I want to share this morning by the leading of the Holy Spirit, the process of temptation, how does temptation come? When people commit sin they say, ‘ it is the devil that pushed me ‘, let me start by saying the devil is not given any power or any form of influence of human being, but sin brings man under his control, so he knows that by getting you to sin, you lose what God has prepared for you, so he is committed at making sure you sin, and how does he do that?
I will explain this with the very first temptation in the world, look Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. Look this passage very well it wasn’t the serpent that made Eve fell, ‘ and when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes..’
One needs to ask question here; was that the first time Eve will see the tree? The answer is NO, but on this particular day the tree was pleasant to her eyes, that is evil desire coming from within her. Beloved, temptation begins when the lady in your office begin to look more pleasant than your wife.
What the devil does is to give you your delight, desire, something that can catch your attention, what your body will take delight in, what your eyes can’t do without seeing, what your flesh will not resist. There is usually a desire from man, the devil only make an offer, you can reject or accept it, his offer is always catching, but you can resist it, look at this scripture, Proverbs 1:10 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
Some people will always dress seductive, the bible calls them sinners, don’t give heed to seduction. Please for the sake of the singles let me say this; one beautiful lady naked herself 4 times within 15minutes to me, I refuse to consent, at another time my body was tempting me I refuse to consent, I landed in the hospital, blood test confirmed it, I never knew any lady except my beautiful wife, and our wedding was 10 years after being admitted in the hospital for not yielding to sexual urge, there was no premarital sex.
Let me pause with this; Romans 6:13 Do not continue offering or yielding your bodily members [and faculties] to sin as instruments (tools) of wickedness. But offer and yield yourselves to God as though you have been raised from the dead to [perpetual] life, and your bodily members [and faculties] to God, presenting them as implements of righteousness.
I will be sharing the consequences of yielding to temptation next week. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Lord I yield my body to you.
