PREVAILING VOICE DAILY

Topic: GOD’S PERFECT PLAN
Text: Genesis 17:1-21KJV
17 Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?
18 And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee!
20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.
21 But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.
God is a master planner and He has perfect plan for his children, however it is very important we surrender totally to God’s perfect plan for our lives and not sorting for an alternative plan by ourselves. By the word “perfect”, it means it is the best that God has for us and when you get the best of God, you can be rest assured that its peaceful, loving, enjoyable and no trouble attached to it. Just like the bible says in Proverbs 10:22 that the blessing of God makes rich without adding any sorrow.
From our text above, God had a perfect plan of a covenant child Isaac for Abraham but Abraham was greatly nursing an alternative plan (Ishmael) in his mind in this particular chapter.
Let’s take a look at it:
In verse 16, God told Abraham that Sarah would give him a son.
Firstly, Abraham laughed in verse 17, and asked in his mind shall he have a child at 100 years and Sarah at 90 years
Secondly, in verse 18, Abraham switched to his alternative plan by praying to God that Ishmael might live before God.
Thirdly, in verse 19, God emphasised it again to Abraham, that His perfect plan for him will come to pass.
In verse 20, God responded to Abraham’s prayer of verse 18, that He (God) will bless Ishmael and make Ishmael a great nation, but God still re-emphasised that though Ishmael would be great but His covenant will be with Isaac. Take note of the word “but” used in verse 21. It means God was saying to Abraham, though I will bless Ishmael as you have requested, I will make him great in life BUT he will not substitute my perfect plan for you, BUT I will not make my covenant with him (Ishmael), BUT I will make my covenant with Isaac which Sarah shall bear unto you (Abraham).
The alternative plan of Abraham, I mean Ishmael’s descendants are problems to the entire world till today while the perfect plan of God for Abraham, I mean Isaac’s descendants are blessings to the world today. Dearly beloved, seek for God’s perfect plan and settle for it because when it comes to pass it will bring all round blessings and peace. God bless you.
PRAYER:
* Father, help me to surrender to your perfect plan for my life in Jesus Name
