Topic: WHAT YOU DON’T HAVE YET
Text : Ecclesiastes 3:11
11: He has made everything beautiful in its time. He also has planted eternity in men’s hearts and minds [a divinely implanted sense of a purpose working through the ages which nothing under the sun but God alone can satisfy], yet so that men cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.
Human beings never exhausted their wishes and desires, we keep longing and desiring more, it is like a little boy who keeps asking the father, ‘ buy this for me ‘ ,’ buy that for me ‘ when he gets one he desires another, keeping wanting more. Sometimes some needs appear pressing, it appears we need them like yesterday, and sometimes you wonder why God did not do it now, you also remember that in the past when you had a pressing need, and it was as if, if it does not happen the worst will happen, the need might not have be met, but you walked over that challenge.
Sometimes it is like if God understands, he will do something now, but in actually fact he does understands more than the person in desperate need, how do I know? Hebrews 4:14,15; Inasmuch then as we have a great High Priest Who has [already] ascended and passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession [of faith in Him].For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning.
The passage above means we have a high priest ( Jesus ) who knows and understands every pain we go through, the reason is because he was once a man like us, he was hungry, he was so tired on the sea amidst a ranging storm that he slept off, he knows what it means to feel headache, pains was all over his body as he was crucified on the cross, so when a sick person is praying he understands what the person is going through.
Some expectations for the year might still be hanging even after praying, fasting, working hard towards achieving them, it does not mean that God will not answer, he will do it in his own time, and that is always the beautiful time, you would have observed that some things that were once precious in our sight are no longer relevant, after sometime you discover that this thing does not worth it, thank God I didn’t waste my time and money on it.
God spoke to me in clear terms many years ago ‘ don’t force things to happen ‘, this is because any thing he is not giving me is either because it isn’t good for me or it isn’t good for now. I close this sermon on this note whatever you have prayed about, you have done all you know to achieve, and yet you don’t have, ‘ it is either it isn’t good for you, or it isn’t good for now. Don’t be desperate about things, it is only the kingdom of heaven that is worth dying for, God bless you.
