13th December
Topic: THE HOLY SPIRIT ( part 5 )
Text : Acts 2:
1, And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2, And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3, And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4, And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Jesus promised us the Holy Spirit, the Apostles first experienced him in our passage, there was a great visitation as they gathered in the upper room, and cloven tongues like as of fire sat on each of them. The Lord knew they won’t be able to go throw the challenges ahead of them without this experience, they needed an encounter that will bring power upon their lives.
Jesus speaking in Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. They needed power from on high, power beyond this world, without this power there wouldn’t have been anything like the acts of the Apostles, it is the power that brought about their acts, they could have done nothing without this experience.
The Hoy Spirit brings us the power of God, the power to do what the natural man cannot do, the power to achieve what your natural being cannot achieve. It is one way God manifests through us, the power is not given us to torment or oppress people but to deliver people from the powers of darkness.
Cloven tongues like as of fire sat upon them, it is a symbol of power, the cloven tongues like as of fire is the arrival of power, the tongue of whom it sat is ordained with power, speaking in tongues itself brings power, if your tongues lacks power then it purpose is lost. Jesus wouldn’t leave on earth powerless representatives, just as you wouldn’t hand over your business to a manager that is not active, Jesus needed powerful believers who can deal with the devil, not those who devil play around their lives.
Every Christian is entitled to this, not just pastors, and ordained ministers, everyone should have it. The power is not just demonstrated in church, you are meant to go everywhere and demonstrate it, pray for the sick’s healing, chase the devil out of people’s lives, stop activities of witchcraft and cultism, bring sinners to Christ. The power is also given to you to fulfill your purpose in life, but most importantly whatever you do must be to the kingdom advancement.
All you need do is to desire this power, pray about it, abstain from sin and you will experience it, no devil anywhere in the world will be able to dare you, you will become unstoppable. God bless you.
