PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
10th December
Topic: VALUE YOUR PRAISE
Text : Psalms 29:1-2
1, Ascribe to the Lord, O sons of the mighty, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
2, Give to the Lord the glory due to His name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness or in holy array.
Make an estimate of the amount you spend on communication daily, weekly, monthly and yearly, of course it will be a tangible amount of money, imagine if God ask us to pay per word, if we are to pay for oxygen, how much will be enough to write off the bill? Most times we don’t appreciate sound health until there is a little pain in our body, if you have not visited hospital this year ask those who did, and you can be sure it is not for free, let alone the pains.
If we have to pay for our movement as we buy fuel in our cars or pay for public transport, beloved we can’t pay the bill, you can move your legs and your body at ease, it is the doings of the Lord, somebody is behind the scene doing all these, and taking it for granted becomes a sin.
If your respiratory system, circulatory system, digestive system, and excretory system are in order the creator made it possible, not as a result of your righteousness, service or giving ( tithes and offerings ) but a proceed of his love for you.
How do you feel when you are trusting God for a thing either to do something special for you or fix a challenge? You name the price yourself; if God can do this for me, oh I will praise him, I give this and give that, I will serve him more etc, but how soon do we forget our promises, vow when we are at ease, this is the point the Psalmist is trying to buttress in our passage, listen to him; 2 :Give to the Lord the glory due to His name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness or in holy array. The glory that his due to his name, you won’t understand this until when you try to monetize your praise, it is like saying ‘ pay amount due ‘ that means if the amount due is $100 and you pay $99 you have not paid the amount due, there is still outstanding.
Giving God glory due to his name is converting the heaviness of heart while you were trusting God for something to a heart of gratitude in the degree of that heaviness. You will give to him what you promised just as Hannah did. Maybe you don’t know or you have not heard it before that an act of ingratitude is a sin, God is jealous for praise and glory, how do I know? Malachi 1:2 If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the Lord of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.
We will all do well this day and always to give him the glory that his due to his name, failure to do that is invitation of curse on our blessings, this is because he yarns for praises his people. God bless you.
PRAISE.
* To you Lord be all the glory for all you have done for me.
* Forgive my heart of ingratitude
