PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
5th December
Topic: THE CRY OF A BELIEVER
Text: 2 Samuel 18: 1-33KJV
33 Then the king was deeply moved, and went up to the chamber over the gate, and wept. And as he went, he said thus: “O my son Absalom—my son, my son Absalom—if only I had died in your place! O Absalom my son, my son
A believer in this context, connotes a child of God, saved and redeemed from sin and followed after righteousness. Everyone cries, young and old, small, and great, men and women e.t.c, even a new born baby cries as soon as he/she is born to this world. A wide variety of things or reasons are often responsible for the cry of men, but we want to consider in particular the cry of a believer.
We want to consider why believers cry and what’s its relevance to the devil.
A believer’s, cry is important to the devil more than the cry of numerous unbelievers or sinners. Cry of a single believer is worth more to the devil than the cry of multitude of sinners. Not only that, devil also rewards and promote quickly any of his agents who can make a single believer to weep than those who can make multitude of unbelievers to cry.
Devil is always in the business of wanting believers to cry especially a cry of sorrow, because he rejoices when a believer cries or weep. One major strategy of devil to achieve this is setting a trap for a believer to fall into sin. Sin is the only trap or snare the devil uses to have right to make a believer to weep, sin opens a gateway for the devil to gain access to the life of a child of God and cause his evil mission of stealing, killing and destroying, and when any of these is achieved the outcome is a deep cry of sorrow or weeping. I pray for you today, that every trap or snare from the pit of hell to make you cry will fail in Jesus Name. From our text above, the sorrow of king David began when he committed adultery in 2 Samuel 11 with Uriah’s wife and then plotted the death of Uriah. From that point onward till 2 Samuel 18, David knew no peace in his Kingdom and family, it was one sorrow and shame upon another until his first son Absalom died and then he wept in sorrow.
Dearly beloved, the scripture admonishes that we should not be ignorant of the devices of the devil, so stay away from sin or any appearances of sin and follow after righteousness. Don’t fall into the snare of sin and become a prey at the mercy of the devil, because the devil can only steal, kill, destroy and then cause a deep cry of sorrow, that will not be your portion in Jesus Name. God bless you.
PRAYER
*Father, every snare of the devil to make me cry will fail in Jesus Name
* Father, I will not weep, I will not cry and I will not mourn in Jesus Name.
* Father, the enemies will not rejoice over me in Jesus Name
* Father, the devil and his agent will not get me in Jesus Name.
