Topic: COVENANT OF PROSPERITY
Text : Psalms 111:5,6
5:He has given food and provision to those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him; He will remember His covenant forever and imprint it [on His mind].
6: He has declared and shown to His people the power of His works in giving them the heritage of the nations [of Canaan]. Amp.
Covenant is defined as a solemn agreement, while solemn is defined as dignified in manner and character and committed to keeping promises. In my own words it is a binding agreement, it is important you understand that from time immemorial God has been entering covenant with his people.
Abraham became the father of many nations by covenant, Isaac became the promised child by covenant, Jacob who became Israel, is God’s own nation by covenant. It is important you know that God is still making covenant with his people, a covenant of peace, prosperity, protection and enjoyment of good life.
Bringing us into this life benefiting covenant through the blood of his son Jesus, he expects us to keep our part of the covenant. From our text, everyone who is committed to fearing God has entered his covenant of prosperity, the fear of God is the beginning of prosperity. Let me come out this way; how much love do you shower on a child who loves you and obeys all your commandments? You want to go extra miles for him.
Especially when the child makes you proud in school, on a prize giving day your family name was mentioned several times because of your child’s performance, certainly you will be the happiest person in that occasion, you want to do anything that will impress that child.
Our passage says, ‘ he has given food and provision to them that fear him, he will remember his covenant forever ‘ this mean God will never forget the covenant he has entered into with them forever, it means God is committed to blessing them. By ‘ food and provision ‘ he meant all that they need. Look at Psalms 34:9 O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. This verse blows up my mind, ‘ there is no lack for them that fear him, it means anyone who will not walk in the fear of God is doing himself great harm.
I love the scriptures, I have found them interesting from my teen ages, look at verse 6 of our passage, ‘ He has declared and shown to His people the power of His works in giving them the heritage of the heathen ‘ you might not understand this until I explain, this is what it means; God is committed to taking wealth from the hands of those who will not fear him ( heathen ) and giving those who fear him.
It therefore means; see a crooked man who appears wealthy today will soon lose it to a poor man who fears God. It also means wealth is changing hands, from sinners, fraudsters, wicked men to righteous men. God bless you, do fear God and stay righteous .
PRAYER.
* Help me to fear you and keep your commandments.
* Instill your fear in my heart Lord.
