Topic: TOO MUCH FOR GOD
Text: Proverbs 29:1 KJV
1 He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and without remedy.
Our God is full of mercy, the scripture even said God is rich in mercy (Hebrews 2:4). He is also called the consuming fire (Hebrews 12:29). There is no mountain too high for God to bring low, no valley too low for Him to exalt, more than ones He parted the waters and made dry land (way) out of it for his children to pass through, so there is absolutely nothing too hard or difficult for God to do, and also there is believer that can be too much for God to handle or deal with.
King Saul was chosen and anointed by God to be the king of Israel (1Samuel 10:1-11), he walked in obedience to God’s standard and instructions but not long, Saul began to please himself and his people rather than pleasing God. He began to despise God’s commandments and instructions, he began to give reasons to justice his decisions against God’s instructions. In 1 Samuel 13:7-14.
King Saul offered a sacrifice to God, an assignment which was meant for Samuel the Priest, when Samuel confronted him for this he defended himself. Let’s see verse 11&12 “And Samuel said, What hast thou done? And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered themselves together at Michmash; Therefore said I, The Philistines will come down now upon me to Gilgal, and I have not made supplication unto the Lord: I forced myself therefore, and offered a burnt offering.” Also in 1 Samuel 15, Samuel instructed King Saul to totally destroy the entire Amalekites as commanded by God, again Saul destroy the land of Amalek but spared Agag, the king and some fat animals. Right there Samuel told Saul that God has rend the Kingdom from him and will give it to another. Saul seemed to be too much for God but God dealt with him.
The sons of Eli in 1Samuel 2-4 are another examples, Hophni and Phinehas defile the temple of God and the people of God, they rubbished the office of Priesthood, they took bribes and forcefully takes people’s offering for God to themselves. God issued several warnings to their father but they turned no new leaf and God destroyed both of them in a day. What about the two sons of Aaron, who offered strange fire upon the altar of God according to Leviticus 10:1, the scripture recorded that God destroyed both of them and their strange sacrifice with fire from heaven on that spot.
Beloved, Are you kicking against God’s command and instructions? Do you despise the constant warning of the Holyspirit on certain issues in your life? Do you take God for granted saying God will have mercy even when your spirit tells you God is angry with what you are doing? Then you are becoming too much for God. So repent and return to your father before it becomes too late. God bless you.
PRAYER:
* Father, help me to yield to your correction and obey your instructions in Jesus Name.
* Father, do not let your anger kindle against me, Lord show me your mercy.
