Topic: FOREVER IN HIS PRESENCE
Text : 1 Thessalonians 4:17
17: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
From creation man was meant to dwell with God, God couldn’t find his like among all creatures, not even the angels fall in his favorite, he made man that looks like him to fellowship with him regularly, he did visit Adam for fellowship, alas, Adam fell, and in as such as he wouldn’t tolerate sin, he was in need of fellowship which can only be with man not animals, ghost or angels.
God in a package of redemption through Jesus was bent on reconciling man back to himself 2 Corinthians 5:18. The primary purpose of the reconciliation is fellowship, he want to fellowship with man, his image, forever, what a privilege that God cherishes mere mortal, and sinner more than any other creature, no wonder the psalmist spoke in Psalms 8:4; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Man is the favorite of God, that is my first point of emphasis here, man is meant to reign with him forever, but not just any man, the reason is because he can’t put up with sin, no sinner will reign with him, he has a purer eye than to behold iniquity.
Though in need of men to reign with him forever, he wouldn’t just take any man, but those who meet his criteria, not all who goes to church or calls him lord will reign with him, your activities in church will not qualify you.
Viewing from the angle that God is holy, it takes only holy people to reign with him, Apostle Paul was very clear in Hebrew 12:14, Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. Jesus speaking Matthew 5:8 he said ‘ Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God ‘. Purity is a must for anyone that will reign with God forever, Adam and Eve fell short of that standard and so they were sent out of God’s presence.
The Psalmist speaking in Psalm 93:5 Your testimonies are very sure; holiness [apparent in separation from sin, with simple trust and hearty obedience] is becoming to Your house, O Lord, forever. Amp. It is impossible for God to live with sinners, Jesus died and rose on third day to present us holy to God, everyone who must reign forever with God must believe and accept the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, and must continue in holiness, abstaining from sin. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Lord I forsake sin and I accept the Lordship of Christ.
* Help me to continue in holiness.
