Topic: ANTIDOTE FOR LUST Part 2.
Text : Job 33:1
1: I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?
Last week Friday, a laid a solid foundation on this subject, Lust, it categorized into 3 according to 1 John 2:15-17, there are ; the lust of the eye, the lust of flesh and the pride of life.
Lust usually begin with the eye, what you see, it all started with Eve, look at it here : ‘ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise….’ Genesis 3:6. What catches your eyes most times touches your heart.
Lust is one powerful instrument in the hand of the devil, as he is not empowered to force anyone to sin, he usually project good pleasant images in people’s eyes and minds to create craving in their hearts, the man of God, Job, understood this and that is the reason he said in Job 31:1 I dictated a covenant (an agreement) to my eyes; how then could I look [lustfully] upon a girl? Amp. He knew that it always begin with looking.
The ladies that dress seductively to take you from your wife understand that it always begin with looking, they come up with a look you cannot resist, either they are dressed in trousers or shirts, they know how to project it in way that will create inordinate desire in your hearts, they wear make ups that will still your heart from your wife, they wake up early and take good time to dress seductively and still get to work early, a man who understands that lust is destructive in all its ramifications will make covenant with eye not to look.
You want to ask ‘ is possible not to look ? Of course yes, it is impossible for you not to see but very possible not to look, how? I can see a lady pass by me, I see her because she pass by me but when I like what I see and I want to see more, I look to see more, that is where and how problem begins.
After trusting and praying to God to deliver you, you must make conscious effort not to look, you see a lady in mini shirt and you want to look more, you are opening door to lust, like Job you gat to make covenant with your eye.
I understand that woman also lust, same process applicable, some ladies are not free from the ungodly passion they use to have for their ex boy friend before they got married, you gat to pray such passion out of your life, some lust after the wealth of men and prefer them to their husbands, you have to also look away and trust God to bless your husband.
Lust is an invisible destroyer, it appears small but potent enough destroy anyone, powerful Samson died untimely because of lust, king David brought sword upon his house forever through lust. How common is cases of divorce in our society because of lust, devil has used lust to separate wonderful lovely couples, but you don’t have to be a victim, you can be free and satisfied with what you have; wife/husband and material things.
