Text : Psalms 103:7

7: He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.

Father-children relationship is beyond benefits, how do you feel when your children welcome you home with joy? My children start hailing me each time they hear the sound of my car, they feel happy either I bring something for them or not, they asked questions when I am preparing to go out; Daddy where are you going? When will you be back? They feel much joy when I take them out with me. What they want is the presence of their father.

Many people tend to seek God for what he can give them, to fix a challenge for them, to perform miracles in their lives, they tend to show much commitment to God because of what they want from him, that approach isn’t bad because at least they didn’t go the wrong place to seek help, but it isn’t the best. The same was the approach of the Israelites, all they wanted was his acts not his ways, while Moses knows his ways.

There is a lot to learn from this great man of God, Moses, I will want us to start an in depth study about his life, I will make some points about him here and continue latter.

Look at this : And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you. Exodus 3:13,14.

Moses was the first person to ask for God’s name and probably the only one, if you study father Abraham, you will discover that he gave God names based on what he did per time name like Jehovahjireh was given when God provided a ram in place of Isaac, Genesis 22:14. But Moses inquired of God, what his name is?

Moses will not just assumed God has spoken, he really wanted to know who God is, what his real name is, what he calls himself, how he would like to be addressed, he wasn’t satisfied by the description that he is God to Abraham, Isaac, and , Jacob. He wanted to know God on personal basis. The fact that God spoke to him is supernatural, the bush burning without being consumed is supernatural, the appearance of an angel is supernatural, but he was not satisfied with all these acts, he wanted to know the person behind the acts.

He knew it is better to be know the person behind this acts than to be satisfied with the acts. So he was bent on knowing his name, trust God, he responded ‘ I am that I am ‘, this means, no word can actually describe me, I am bigger than words can expressed, as you relate with me and know my ways, you get to know more of me.

Like Moses everyone of us must desire God more than what we want from him, desire his presence, you can be sure that your needs will be met as you desire and seek more of him.

* As we wait on God today, let’s ask for his visitation.
* Tell him to reveal more of himself to you.

Numbers 17, Acts 18.
