22nd September
Topic: ANTIDOTE FOR LUST
Text: 1 John 2:15-17
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 
16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.
 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
Lust is defined as having a craving, appetite, or great desire for something. It is commonly refer to as inordinate desire for sex, while antidote is defined as a remedy that stops or controls effect of a poison. In this context I will liken lust to poison because of it destructive effect.
Lust is not only sex related as it is potent enough to affect all other areas of a man’s life, inordinate desire for anything is lust, imagine a man who is desperate at driving the latest car in town, and goes any length to satisfy his desire, probably by borrowing money or stealing or defrauding someone.
When you cannot control your desire it certainly leads to danger, inordinate sexual desire has broken many homes, when the heart of a man begins to draw towards lady who is not his wife, it definitely sparks up problem at home. Each time I drive through bars, restaurants and beer palours, I ask myself how many of these men came here with their wives? The amount of money they spend here, do they spend such at home? It is only such ungodly craving that can make a man leave his lovely wife and children at home to run after a strange woman.
More than the problem itself, I want to discuss the solution, I call it ‘ the antidote for lust ‘. In as much as I try not to be religious about this, you will agree with me that no man can overcome sin by his own power or volition, but any man can do anything through Christ Jesus who strengthens him. So you will agree with me that the person must rely on Christ Jesus for power to conquer this devilish desire.
It is important I say this, you must be willing to get rid of lust because it has capacity to destroy anyone, no matter his or her status, make your desire a prayer point, Lord deliver me from lust. This is one prayer point that falls in God’s will, so, that guarantees its answer, no matter the sin you are struggling with, the first point to deliverance is your wiliness for freedom, you must believe that you can be free through the power of God in Christ Jesus, and you must desire to be free.
You must see it as a problem that about to destroy you, pray about it like a desired miracle, if you keep saying ‘ we are all sinners ‘, you are not ready to be free. I wish I can finish discussing this in one write up but I consider it wise to discuss it extensively. I will continue from here next Friday. God bless you.

* Lord deliver me from inordinate affection.
* Destroy passion for sin by the power in the blood of Jesus.
