Topic : JESUS’ ASSIGNMENT 3
( THE KINGDOM LIFESTYLE )
Text : Romans 14:17
[After all] the kingdom of God is not a matter of [getting the] food and drink [one likes], but instead it is righteousness (that state which makes a person acceptable to God) and [heart] peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
From previous discussion on this subject, we have been able to establish that Jesus’ assignment is to build God’s kingdom our heart, my emphasis today is living the kingdom lifestyle.
Let me come out this way: everyone who came out Adam carries the Adamic nature, it is the nature of sin, that is the reason the David said in Psalm 51:5 Behold, I was brought forth in [a state of] iniquity; my mother was sinful who conceived me [and I too am sinful]. So no one can live a holy life by himself, except in Christ Jesus, this is the reason no one in old testament was promised the kingdom of God.
The kingdom lifestyle begins in Christ Jesus, this scripture best explained it 2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ controls and urges and impels us, because we are of the opinion and conviction that [if] One died for all, then all died;
15: And He died for all, so that all those who live might live no longer to and for themselves, but to and for Him Who died and was raised again for their sake.
No longer living unto yourselves, but to and for Christ, doing his will, we are birthed into his nature which is holiness and righteousness, and we must continue in that, this is what Paul means when he said in Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ [in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
By crucifixion with Christ he meant, his own self will has been nail to the crossed with Christ, self is no longer in charge of our lives, we no longer take decisions based on the dictates of the flesh, but live the life of Christ by the Spirit of God. Example of what I am sharing here is: someone tries to insult you or fight with you, but you chose to him love instead. How do you feel when someone insult you and you couldn’t retaliate? Of course you feel pains, you feel cheated, that feeling is coming from your flesh ( self ), when you decide to let go of the insult, then you chose the lifestyle of Christ.
Look at this :1 Peter 2:21,23,24
For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not;
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
I will conclude this message next week Sunday.
PRAYER.
