Topic: THE FOUNDATION OF ISHMAEL
Text: Genesis 16:1-12 KJV
10 And the angel of the Lord said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.
11 And the angel of the Lord said unto her, Behold, thou art with child and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the Lord hath heard thy affliction.
12 And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.
Ishmael was born by Abraham (a blessed man) and Hagar (a bond woman from Egypt). The implication of this is that by virtue of the former, Ishmael became great (Genesis 21:13) and for the latter, Ishmael got a wrong destiny (foundation- Genesis 16:5-12).
Ishmael foundation sets him and his generations on a wrong pathway till today.
Father Abraham was concerned about Ishmael, the tone of his prayer in Genesis 17:18 “And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee”, showed that he desired Ishmael would be redeemed from the wrong foundation as it was said to Hagar by an angel in verse 12 of our text “And he will be wild…against everyman…everyman against him…will dwell in the presence of his brethren”.
God did hear Abraham’s prayer and He blessed Ishmael and made him great with generations all over the world today and God also made provision for the redemption of Ishmael’s destiny and that of his generations.
That redemption of Ishmael’s foundation is available in Jesus Christ. Jesus is the seed of Abraham born without sin and died on the cross to redeem all the world including Ishmael’s generation from eternal damnation. “…..that whosoever believes in Him should not perish by have everlasting life John 3:16”.
Dearly beloved, Jesus Christ is the sure foundation (1 Corinthians 3:11) and He is the only way out for us, for them and for all (John 14:6). So accept Him today as your Lord and Saviour. God bless you.
PRAYER:
* Father, I redeem every wrong foundation in my life by the power in the name of Jesus.
* Father, by your mercy save me sin and eternal damnation, and save every generation of Ishmael all over the world in Jesus Name.
