Topic : SIGNS OF A BELIEVER
Text : Mark 16: 17,18
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
A graduate of a standard reputable school is expected to exhibit an height of intelligence, must be able to express himself well, his level of reasoning should be high, his approaches to life issues should be far higher than an illiterate, and most times his certificate is not needed to proof his worth.
A believer of the gospel of Christ is expected to experience the gospel package, the package includes Salvation, healing, authority over demons and devil himself, prosperity etc. Jesus speaking in our text today, said the following signs should follow every believer, devil flees when they call the name of Jesus, everybody calls Jesus but the power in the name does not work for everyone.
Devil ministers crises in the people’s lives, families, business, when you experience crisis know that the devil is behind it, but God has ordained power in the mouth of everyone who believes in his son,Jesus, he gives them power, John 1:12, Luke 10:19.
Speaking in tongues is another sign, they shall take up servants, even when they needed to do dangerous things, they shall not be hurt. They also have power to heal the sick, if you have given your life to Christ these signs are suppose to manifest in your life, devil is under your feet, you can crush demons, you can cure sickness by the power in the name of Jesus.
Permit me to share this: A friend once asked me a question, he said ‘ how come these people are begging you ?’ it was a case where some people were angry with me because I wouldn’t permit corruption and one of them threatened to destroyed my life with diabolic powers. After sometime my friend noticed the man came to beg me, so he was forced to ask that question.
The authority in our mouth can dictate what happens in any country, Elijah demonstrated that in 1Kings 17:1 And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word. Ahab in this case could be liken to president of a nation, in James 5:17 the bible says Elijah was human being like us, he was not an angel.
Anyone who believe in the authority of the name of Jesus and has forsaken sin is far greater than the devil even angels. Demons, sickness, poverty, all kinds of evil things around you will bow as you open your mouth to pray. I see the devil bow before you this day. God bless you.
