Prevailing Voice Daily 3rd September

PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
3rd September
Topic: JESUS’ ASSIGNMENT
Text : Matthew 3:2,3
2, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
The subject we are discussing this morning is very important and crucial, I trust God to give you deep understanding. Let me start by saying Jesus has only one assignment, God sent him to this world to accomplish that assignment and what is it? BUILDING GOD’S KINGDOM ‘.
You can’t find phrases like ‘ kingdom of God ‘ or ‘ God’s kingdom ‘ in the old testament, the reason is because God’s kingdom was not with men and neither did God promise them His kingdom, the highest promise they had is ‘ THE PROMISE LAND ‘ . The first person to mention ‘ the Kingdom of God ‘ is John the baptist, and that is because his mission is to announce Jesus and his mission.
So when he said ‘ repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand ‘ he meant the man that will build the kingdom is here, no prophet ever preached that in the old testament, John was simply declaring the mission of Jesus, people taught he meant the world is coming to an end.
Jesus himself spoke in Matthew 6:33 ‘ But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; …’. Note ‘ seek ye first ‘, Jesus’ disciples asked him to teach them how to pray in Matthew 6, the first prayer point in the prayer pattern he gave them is (v10) ‘ thy kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven ‘ .
If you are good student of the bible you will discover that 90 percent of his parables begins with ‘ the kingdom of God or kingdom of heaven is liken to this ‘ so what borders him is this Kingdom, that is his mission, his assignment.
He needed this mission to continue after he must have gone, so he ordained 12 Apostles, he taught them the urgency of this assignment. When Jesus left after resurrection, Peter the leader of the Apostles went a fishing, Jesus appeared to him to ensure he doesn’t forsake this assignment.
The Apostles took over from where Jesus stopped, they carry on the assignment with zeal and power, the government of their days cautioned them to stop the preaching of this Kingdom, they chose to die instead of allowing the uttermost assignment to die, they paid price to keep the assignment on with their lives, they passed it down to us, one question everyone of us must answer is this ; will this assignment die in my hands ?
Every denomination of the church of Christ, and every member of every denomination, every child of God must carry on this assignment. I will continue from here next Sunday but before then please I recommend that you search for this hymn from hymn books ‘ FAITH OF OUR FATHERS LIVING STILL….WE WILL BE TRUE TO THEE TILL DEATH ‘ God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Lord help me to carry on this assignment.
