Topic: POURING ONE’S BITTERNESS
Text : 1 Samuel 1:1-28
9 So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the Lord.
10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore.
11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.
The world is characterized with pleasant time and unpleasant time as Pastor Stephen Olumade discussed yesterday, this is simply because this earth is not our permanent home, heaven is the only trouble free zone. Unpleasant time administers sorrow and bitterness in the heart of a man, but our creator is perfect he has made provision for everything.
You are not scared that your car can develop fault at anytime because there are mechanics around who can always fix it, and just as doctor attend to sick patience, the creator himself handles our lives matters, he attends to issues that border our lives.
It is important you know that is the maker of life that handles life’s issues just as mechanic fix your car, also know that every preacher of the gospel only direct you to God, even Jesus came to link us back to God, so when there are issues in the life of a man the appropriate thing to do is to go to God, and one indispensable means of reaching him is PRAYER, it is the only means you can pour your bitterness, don’t be bored of praying, don’t doubt if it works, of course it does, you can ask me, I will share my experiences, it works greatly and timely.
The woman in our text poured out her bitterness through prayer and it was replaced with joy, the devil can’t stand a prayerful man, can I shook you? Your problem is allergic to prayer, each time you pray things happen, you don’t have to know it, it is spiritual. Prayer brings God into a matter, it is like a boy walking on the road with his father who saw danger coming and shouted ‘ daddy help ‘ you can be sure his father won’t fold his arms. I am very sure God is not folding arms over your matters because you matter ( precious ) to him.
Let me leave you with this ‘ when life’s situation gets bitter, pouring one’s bitterness into the well of life through prayer, makes things brighter and better. God bless you.
* It is another day to wait upon the Lord in fasting and prayer.
* Pour your bitterness through prayer this day.
* Ask him to do that which seems impossible.
