Topic: THE LORD’S DELIGHT
Text : Psalm 51: 15-17
15 O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall show forth Your praise.
16 For You delight not in sacrifice, or else would I give it; You find no pleasure in burnt offering.
17 My sacrifice [the sacrifice acceptable] to God is a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart [broken down with sorrow for sin and humbly and thoroughly penitent], such, O God, You will not despise.
How do you feel when you are in need of food and you are given your delight? Of course satisfied, but reverse is the case when you are served unwanted dish. A good percentage of the world population professes worship and adoration to God but very few are recognized by Him, how do I know this?
Luke 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Give attention to the word ‘ many ‘ it therefore means only few are recognized by Him, the Psalmist in our passage gives us His criteria for choosing the few, reading from amplified version of the bible: those ‘ who are broken down with sorrow for sin and humbly and thoroughly penitent ‘.
It therefore means that anyone who will come to God with delightful sacrifice, worship, adoration, praise have must be broken down from the life of sin.
Going to place of worship with fat offerings and tithes will not make you acceptable by Him until you have forsaken sin, you will be received with joy if you make holiness a lifestyle . Keep yourself holy.
