Text: 1 Samuel 2:26 KJV
26-And the child Samuel grew on and was in favour both with God and also with men.
Favour is an act of kindness beyond measure or beyond what is due. It means to receive benevolence that one does not deserve
There are two places where I found the word favour with God. Luke 2:52 Jesus grew in favour with God and 1 Samuel 2:26, Samuel also grew in favour with God.
I have always wondered how Samuel was a able to scale through successfully at the time of his growth among two wayward sons of the Priest who he(Samuel) ministered unto God before. Hophni and Phinehas, two sons of Eli were wayward and rejected by God, yet Samuel ministered to God under the tutilage of their father Eli and became a great man of God in Israel. I believe the favour Samuel had with God among many others thing was the secret of his success.
Moses was another man who had favour with God. In Exodus 33:2 God told Moses He would send an angel to go before the Israelites as they journeyed to the promise land, but in verse 12-14, Moses kept telling God, if I have found grace (favour) in your site, who will you send to go with us? if I have found grace (favour) show me your way, Moses never stop saying that word till God said His presence will go with them.
Moses still press further from verse 15-18, “And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth. And the Lord said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name. And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory”. Moses pushed until he got what he wanted, a height so great for a mortal man to attain with God all because he had favour with God.
Dearly beloved, when you are in favour with God all things will work together for your good, every thing living and non living will work in your favour, situation and even circumstances will be to you favour. Ask God today to grace you to have favour with Him in Jesus Name.
PRAYER:
Father, by your mercy let have favour with you in Jesus Name.
