Topic: THE LIFTER
Text: Psalms 3: 1-8
Psalms 3:1 Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
Psalms 3:2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.
Psalms 3:3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
Psalms 3:8 Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.
This psalm was written by David when his son Absalom rose against him, the time he fled from Absalom his son. It was a very critical time for him, a time when his enemy is from his blood, if it were an outsider it would have been better, but now his enemy is his beloved son, he was so perplexed and his spirit was totally down, so many thoughts were running through his mind, will Absalom die for him to be free? Of course he wouldn’t want the death of his beloved son. I am sure food couldn’t go through his mouth at this time.
So, verse 1 of this psalm says ‘ Lord, how are they increased that troubled me…? ‘ life’s challenges compelled him to ask this question, it all began when he killed Goliath and when he thought his family has entered into comfort, he got a fresh enemy, king Saul, and now the worst of it all his blood became his enemy, what a serious down time for him in the spirit?
In the midst of all these he remembered the LIFTER, he understood that God can always bring him out of the worst of problems, it absolutely important you look on the lifter when life’s challenges bring you down, recession seems to be affecting businesses and finances, people’s morale seems to be low, other family problems, something hurting, and your spirit is down, I am glad to announce to you that the lifter is close to you. So in verse 3 the psalmist said ‘ But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head ‘.
Call upon the lifter anytime you are down, His Spirit will come around you and cause a lifting for you. In verse 8 he said ‘ Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah ‘. God gives salvation, deliverance, provision, breakthrough, success, lifting, healing, prosperity to his children, God’s blessing is sure upon His people, he can never run out of blessing.
To crown it all Psalms 46:1 says ‘ God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble ‘. He is closer than anyone else to you. Just call upon Him and you will experience lifting in all ramifications. God bless you.

* I receive lifting in all areas of my life.
* Every good thing that is down in my life be lifted in the name of Jesus.
