PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
29th April
Topic: AN EXCELLENT CHILD Part 1
Text: 2 Chronicles 34:1-34KJV
1-Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem one and thirty years.
2-And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the ways of David his father, and declined neither to the right hand, nor to the left.
3-For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.
4-And they brake down the altars of Baalim in his presence; and the images, that were on high above them, he cut down; and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images, he brake in pieces, and made dust of them, and strowed it upon the graves of them that had sacrificed unto them.
The word excellent means possessing outstanding quality or superior merit, and also means extraordinary. So an excellent child is a child that possess outstanding qualities or does extraordinary.
From our scriptural text above, Josiah became a King in Israel, being a child at 8 years but he did extraordinary things that even many other kings that ruled before or after him could not do. Two outstanding things Josiah achieved in Israel were:
* He removed all the high places in land of Israel: High places were places of shrines, gods and idols that the people worshipped, Josiah destroyed them all right from when he ascended the throne as a child. see verse 4 of our text.
* He made all the Israelites to serve God Almighty alone: see verse 33 of our text “And Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that pertained to the children of Israel, and made all that were present in Israel to serve, even to serve the LORD their God. And all his days they departed not from following the LORD, the God of their fathers.”
A careful look into the books of Kings and Chronicles showed that many Kings who reigned in Israel and were even older did not achieved what Josiah achieved being a king from a child. Some kings did evil in the sight of God (1 Kings 22:52), some did what was right in the sight of God but could not remove the high places in Israel (2 Kings 15:1-4,32-35)
Dearly beloved, time won’t permit me to give more examples of excellent children in the bible who did outstanding things that even older people could not do, this is mind of God for your children, so pray that God will make your children to be excellent children. God bless you.
PRAYER:
Father, please make all my children excellent children in Jesus Name
