Topic: PREPARE TO MEET THY GOD
Text : Amos 4:1-14
Amos 4:11 I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
Amos 4:12 Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.
God created everyone and sent each one of us to this world, some days we will definitely return to Him, you don’t need to be told that you cannot be here forever, the fact that our grand parents are gone and some elderly people around us, even young people, tells us that some days we will go, going to meet the Lord.
How will you appear before him? Goodly or badly? how will God see you? Clean or dirty? Will you meet His requirements? Sometimes in primary 4 I took 4th position in class, I knew my dad won’t be pleased with that, but I try to make myself happy, saying ‘ after all some people took 10th, 11th, 12th positions,so i am better in performance ‘. When I got home, mum and dad made me weep, they showered insults on me, they both complained that I was too playful. The point I am trying to make here is this: sometimes you look at other people’s lives and conclude that you will make heaven, thinking you are better in lifestyle.
No human being is our Standard but God, He has criteria for everyone who will live with Him, look at it here: 2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. God cannot put up with sin , it is absolutely impossible, look at it in this passage too: Revelation 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
Only a careless soul will not give attention to this, our life on earth is an insignificant fraction of our eternal life, alternative to living eternally with God is living eternally with the devil in lake of fire. PREPARE TO MEET YOUR GOD, if you are not born again please give your life to Christ today. God bless you.
