PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
27th April
Topic: WHEN GOD SPEAKS
Text: 2 Samuel 30:1-26 KJV
5-And David’s two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.
6-And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.
7-And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David.
8-And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.
God speaks in diverse conditions and through different means, it is very important for God to speak in some critical conditions because at that stage the silence of God could be so devastating and frustrating to such a life. One of those critical conditions when a man needs to have a word from God is when at a state of confusion and don’t know what next to do. When God speaks at such a time a whole lots of burden would have been lifted because:

  • It means you are not alone: not being alone means that God is with you and He is aware of what you are going through.
  • It gives sense of direction: When God speaks at such a time, there is sense of direction, you surely know what next to do just as we saw from our text, David knew what next to do after God has spoken to him

  • It restores hope and peace: From our text David was troubled and distressed, but when he heard from God, there was hope for him to pursue knowing fully well that God has promised that he would overtake the enemies and recover all that was stolen.

  • It gives you strength to fight on: Rather than giving up or going back, when God speak at such a time, it releases strength to fight on and to move because you are certain you will overcome.

Some other biblical examples of people who God spoke to in their time of distress were, Hannah who was barren for long and she received God’s word through Eli the priest (1 Samuel 1:1-18), also Prophet Elijah heard God spoke to him in a still voice giving instructions on what to do when he fled from the frustration of Jezebel (1 Kings 19:1-18).
Dearly beloved, it is important you seek and wait on God’s words for your life at all times especially when you are distressed, frustrated, confused and it seems you don’t know what next to do, because His words and instructions will sort you out. God bless you
PRAYER:
* Father, help me to always wait on your word for my life in Jesus Name
* Father, don’t be silent over my case, speak and let my glory manifest in Jesus Name

  1. I’ve been surfing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me. Personally, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the internet will be a lot more useful than ever before.
