PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
11th April
Topic: SIMPLE OBEDIENCE
Text: 2 Kings 5:1-14KJV
10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.
11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the Lord his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.
12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.
13 And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?
God’s instruction may be simple, sometimes complex or even may sound foolish to the hearing of men. Many a-times God’s instruction may not make meaning to logical reasoning, this was exactly what Naaman felt from our scriptural text above, when Elisha sent a word to him to go and wash in river Jordan seven times for his long time leprosy to be cleansed. The instruction sounds too cheap, and not logical to Naaman’s ears. Naaman could possibly have thought the following:
* How on earth would washing in a river cleanse his age long leprosy
* Why did he travelled all the way from Syria to Israel for healing only to be told to go and wash in a river to be made whole
* Why on earth will a mighty and powerful man like him (Naaman) go and be washing in a river to be made whole as if it’s a child’s play
* Of all rivers in Syria, why should it be the common river Jordan in Israel.
Thank God, Naaman had with him wise servants, who spoke to him that if Elisha had asked him to do great things to recover would he not have done it, how much Elisha giving him a simple instruction to just wash seven times in Jordan and be made whole.
Dearly beloved, what ever class of instructions God gives to you, simply obey. Whether the instruction is simple, complex, logical or not logical, just simply obey. God does not joke with obedience from His children. Anyone who will go far with God in this life must be ready to completely obey God’s words and instructions. Remember, to obey is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22) and partial obedience or incomplete obedience is no obedience at all before God. God bless you
PRAYER:
* Father, help me never to take with levity your instructions for me in Jesus Name
* Give me grace to simply obey your words and instructions in Jesus Name
