Topic: A THIRST FOR GOD
Text : Psalms 42:1-10
Psalms 42:1 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
Psalms 42:2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
Psalms 42:4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.
Psalms 42:5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
The Psalmist has enjoyed God’s presence over the years, he knows the benefit of His presence, he understands that the realm of feeling and enjoying God’s presence is the best realm anyone can be. It is an height that fear, worries and anxiety can not attain, it isn’t a trouble free realm but, a victory assured realm.
As I read through the story of David, I discovered that he had battles especially with his father in law, king Saul, but in all he was never a loser. One unique thing I also observed about him is that no matter how tough the battle, he had time with God, worshipping, and seeking His face 2 Samuel 5:17-19.
There is one thing no one and no circumstance can take from David, seeking God’s face, there is a strong desire for God even at war front, in v.4 of our passage he said ‘…for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.’ He went with them to the house of God with the voice of praise, he understands that God cherish praise, worship from those that keep holy day, people who live holy in their daily living.
David was addicted to worshipping and seeking God’s face, no wonder God called him a man after His heart. He never lost any battle, this is because a true worshipper of God carries God’s presence, imagine you going to battle with God, how can you lose? It is absolutely impossible. A true worshipper enjoys God’s presence, and that is the best of all enjoyment. God bless you.

* Lord help me to desire more of you.
