Topic: MIXED WITH STRANGERS
Text . : Hosea 7:1-16
Hosea 7:7 They are all hot as an oven, and have devoured their judges; all their kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.
Hosea 7:8 Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned.
Hosea 7:9 Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.
As we stay with people over time, we take some things from them knowingly or unknowingly. Especially people you love, those you share good part of your time with, we pick something from their dressing, use of words, we share their reasoning and to an extent their bad behavior.
Before I got married I am not use to saying ‘ do you grab that? ‘ as in place of ‘ do you understand that?’ After sometime I discovered that I started using grab in place of understand. I must have l picked that from my wife’s use of words because she uses grab in place of understand.
Often times we pick from people , their use of words, their attitudes, dressing, from their lifestyle, from their conversations and conducts, just like Ephraim in our passage today, Ephraim was serving the Lord, but in the process of time he mixed himself among the people, he picked from the people’s lifestyle, he picked from their sinful lifestyle, and God referred to him as a cake not turned, a burnt cake.
In v.9 God said strangers have devour his strength, yet he knoweth it not. God expects a distinct lifestyle from that of our neighbors, He expects holiness though we will live among unholy people , He expects righteousness from us among unrighteous people. We are suppose to influence them not they influencing us. Do a proper check on your life to ensure you have not imported negative lifestyle in your life, and if you have, ask God to cleanse you this day. God bless you.
* Lord cleanse me from all unrighteousness and unfaithfulness
* Uproot anything you have not planted in life.
