Topic: 7 ABOMINABLE THINGS
Text : Proverbs 6:16-35
Proverbs 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
Proverbs 6:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
Proverbs 6:18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
Proverbs 6:19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
Abominable is defined as unequivocally detestable, exceptionally bad or displeasing.
You see most times people commit sin because of their definition of sin, or probably their way of viewing the sin. It is generally accepted that; ignorance is not an excuse in the court of law, the judge won’t take your ignorance as excuse for committing crime.
Since God is the judge of all, it is absolutely important we consider His view of sin, men’s view does not matter here, it is God’s view that stands. Everyone who expects good judgment from Him must be curious to know His view about sin.
Our passage today enumerates in clear terms things that are abominable to God, going by the meaning of the word ‘ abominable ‘ explained earlier, it is obvious that ; pride is displeasing to God, hands that shed blood are exceptionally bad to Him, a wicked devise is unequivocally detestable to Him, a lying tongue, that is telling lies, though very easy and common is exceptionally bad in God’s view.
A number of things that are common in people’s lives are UNEQUIVOCALLY DETESTABLE in God’s view. Beloved, your view or people’s view about it does not matter here, in fact it is complete waste of time to view it differently. What is important here is to desist from any of such act, do you notice that lying is viewed the same way just as killing? Trust God to help you desist from anyone that is become an habit. * Lord help to view sin the way you view them, and help to abstain from them.
