Topic: A NEW COVENANT OF WORSHIP
Text. : Hebrews 8:1-13
Hebrews 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
Hebrews 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
Hebrews 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
Many people profess to serve God, but it is saddening that few among these people give actual worship, some are even confused about the knowledge of the God they serve. When your understanding about God or worship of Him is wrong your entire life will be a waste, how do I mean? There is eternity after this world, and the ticket that determines where you spend eternity is who you worship and how you worship.
It is important you know that one thing the almighty God will not share with anyone is WORSHIP, when you give it to someone or something else He becomes jealous. From the passage God is not pleased with the fact that He gives people instructions but they don’t obey, there is much disobedience to His commandments and now He is set to make a new covenant with committed worshippers.
Look at the covenant in v. 10 ‘ ….I will put my laws into their mind,and write it upon their hearts…’ in old testament He told them to write it where they and their children can see it, so that they can be reminded each time they are about to sin, but that method failed and now He is saying ‘ I will put it in their mind and write it upon their hearts , He wants them to bear it at heart ‘, that is the worship is coming from the heart. Look at v. 11 ; And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. At this point you are not compelled to worship God, worship is genuine since the heart has be been captured by God.
Everyone who wants to be in this class must surrender all to God, ask Him to take total control of your heart, ask Him to captivate your heart, ask Him to reign in your life. God bless you.
