Topic: INFLUENCING LIVES
Text. : Acts 9:35-43
The Acts 9:36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.
The Acts 9:37 And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.
The Acts 9:39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.
The worth of any man is not measured by the amount of money he has or affluence he acquired, but by the impact he made in people’s lives. Let me come out this way: placing LIFE beside WEALTH, which one is more valuable? Of course LIFE, since no amount of money is enough to buy anyone, so a man who influences lives positively has much more than wealth.
From another perspective INFLUENCE is much more strong than AFFLUENCE, while influence means; a power to affect persons, affluence means; abundant wealth, when you truly make positive impact in people’s lives, they open their hearts to you. The impact you make in their lives leaves them with positive memories about you.
Some people are not so blessed with the quality of life you have, while some of us are exposed to a good way of life, some have the opportunity of growing up among fraudsters, drunkards, wayward people etc. Rather than condemning them, God expects us to shine the light we have into their dark lives. Acquiring wealth is not the best since some days we will leave them behind, spending money to make people lives better, like Dorcas in our passage, is of invaluable price.
When people glorify God through our lives it brings great glory to Him. I challenge you to build lives not just wealth, look around for people you can impact, young or old, let them be happy you exist. God bless you.
PRAYER.
* Empower me Lord to make positive impact in people’s lives.
