Topic: TWO SUBJECT MATTERS ON MINISTRY
Text: Exodus 3:8-10KJV
8- And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
9- Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.
10- Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.
When we talk about ministry we mean the purpose of a man in life or his God-given assignment to accomplish in life. Every man has a purpose for which he or she has been created. It is one thing to discover your ministry or purpose in life, it is another thing to fulfil it. Many are yet to discover their purpose or ministry let alone fulfil it. Ask God to reveal to you, your purpose in life today.
Our focus is on two subject matters on ministry. Ministry can make and can mar a man. When God calls a man into ministry, His mind is to make that man as he fulfils the ministry, however care should be taken because on the other hand the devil plans that the same God-given ministry will mar the man.
From our text God called Moses to lead the people of Isreal out of the land of slavery in Egypt to the land of promise, Canaan. From that point onward, Moses took his ministry with ultimate priority. Moses lead them in the way of the Lord with sign and wonders to save them from bondage like parting the red sea, death of all firstborn of livestock and children of the Egyptians, plagues of locust on the farm of the Egyptians e.t.c Moses also interceded from time to time over the Israelites especially when they sinned against God. In Numbers 14, God was fed up of the disobedience of the Israelites and He told Moses that He(God) would destroy them all and make out of Moses a greater nation than the Israelites but Moses would not agree, rather he pleaded with God for mercy and God changed His mind. That was how committed Moses was to his God-given ministry.
But in Numbers 20, the same generation of Israel that Moses was leading got him provoked such that he disobeyed God’s instruction to speak to the rock instead of striking the rock when the Israelites complained of no water in the valley of Zin. The same people, Moses was dyeing for, interceding for, made him to commit an error that ended his ministry untimely. God was angry with Moses for disobeying his instruction and on that spot told him to prepare another man(Joshua) to take over his assignment/ministry to complete it. Read the account in Numbers 20.
Dearly beloved, let us not be ignorant of the devices of the devil, and let he that thinks he stands take heed less he falls. As you fulfil your God given ministry, God is committed to making you but beware and don’t allow the devil to mar you through that ministry/purpose. God bless you
PRAYER:
* Father, as you make me through my God-given ministry/purpose let me not be marred in Jesus Name
* I will not die without fulfilling my purpose on earth
* My God-given ministry/purpose will not be terminated prematurely in Jesus Name
