Text. : John 11:31-44
St. John 11:40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
St. John 11:41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
St. John 11:42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
Critical analysis of this passage show that the resurrection of Lazarus was not automatic. Most times we think it too easy for Jesus to do miracles , of course yes, but you see the will of God must be done in every situation, for instance , Jesus prayer for removal of the cup over his head was not answered just for God to have His will.
Jesus wept in v.35, in v.33, in groaned in the spirit and was troubled, this tells us that it was not an easy task, the weeping and groaning were not pretense but actual feelings, He didn’t dance to the grave , he was actually trusting God to manifest His power, God can do it but what if He choose not to do it? He went ahead to thank God because he knows He will answer.
Thanking Him in advance connotes absence of doubt, though a critical situation, which caused Jesus to groan and weep, yet strong assurance that God will definitely answer him. The passage clearly tells us that in critical situations and sometimes hopeless like the one of Lazarus, there must be assurance of God performing a miracle. As we go through this year, thank God for He will see you through the ups and down, the mountains, the valley experience. Thank Him because no matter what the devil does you will record breakthroughs, lifting, testimonies, miracles, prosperity, promotions, etc.
Thank Him for what He will do in January, February, March,…..till December. God bless you.
