PREVAILING VOICE DAILY
23rd December
Topic : MODERATION
Text. : Philippians 4: 1-23
Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
Philippians 4:5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Moderation is defined as a trait of avoiding excesses. Someone said ‘ too much of everything is bad ‘, when you consume a good product excessively, you abusive the product. Doing things excessively leads to danger, look at this : Proverbs 11:24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.
Holding on too much leads to poverty, acquiring things excessively than necessary is not godly. A good example for this subject is King Solomon; he life was full of excesses, too much power, affluence, wives, glory, he possessed an uncontrollable desire for everything, he was never satisfied, wives upon wives, wealth upon wealth. Solomon had wives and concubines in number of 1,000, it occurred to me that if he did pick one woman per day, it would have taken him about 3 years to pick women. It was really a dangerous state.
Like Solomon many are wasting away in their passion to acquire more, enjoy more, have more fun. Excessive use and consumption of a thing is an abuse of it. Celebrate Christmas and New year in moderation. MERRY CHRISTMAS.
PRAYER.
* Lord help me to control my desires.
