13th December
Topic: MESSAGE FROM HELL
Text. : Luke 16: 20-31
St. Luke 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
St. Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
St. Luke 16:27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house:
St. Luke 16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
This is a popular story of the bible but, it is quite unfortunate that many do not take cognizance of the message it carries. Jesus was giving us the picture of what is happening in hell, who ever does not believe this is not wise and is playing with eternal life.
I want to major on the experience and the words of the rich man. First he IS in pains , take not of the word IS not was, v. 23 ‘….being in torments…’ that is a present continuous tense. The reason is simply because in hell, there is no past tense, they continually be in pains in hell for ever.
The second thing to know about hell is this; it is a place where prayers are not answered, if you like cry till eternity, once the rapture takes place or you pass on to the other side NO MORE MERCY, that’s is the reason Christians don’t pray for dead people, prayer seizes to be answered once you cross to the other side, the rich man asked for two things and none was granted.
The third point to note about hell; verse 28 broke me down; look at it: St. Luke 16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. The rich was saying please send Lazarus to my family members , to instruct them not to come to where I am, beloved this is serious: I see the rich man saying ‘ since I have missed it already, I am doomed forever, but please my family members must not miss it the way I missed it, please let him go and tell them to repent of their sins and give their lives to Jesus.
If God will open your eyes to see your relatives who died without being born again, you will see them saying ‘ please do not come to where I am ‘. An elderly man died in the compound I lived some years ago, after about 2 weeks God opened my eyes, I saw myself in a revelation asking him ‘ sir, where have you been ?’ replied ‘ the place is very dark and very hot ‘ when I got off the revelation I said ‘ oh this man has gone to hell. You can’t afford to spend your eternity in hell, if you miss heaven you will cry. Call to Jesus for salvation and forsake your sins. God bless you.
