Topic: CLEAVING
Text. : Genesis 2:18-22
Genesis 2:22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
Genesis 2:23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Cleaving is defined as come or be in close contact with, stick or hold together, and resist separation. God had and has the intention of keeping a man and a woman together, so He used the word ‘ cleave ‘ so that they will be stick together and come to a point of no separation.
This is intended to make them be together until death do them part. The cleaving is a man to a woman, not a man to two women or more, and a woman to a man, not a woman to two men or more. Since the word ‘ cleave ‘ means resistance to separation, it means no one can come in between them. Every couple must understand that no third party must come in between them. Bringing extended family members in between your home is breaking God’s standard for marriage.
Issues must be resolved amicably between both couples, in worst cases bring in a Holy Spirit filled man or woman, going to family house to settle dispute is not scriptural. Learn to live in harmony with your spouse.
Cleaving could also mean united in decision making, always ensure you do not choose two separate parts with your spouse, unity in a home brings fortune to the home.
Cleaving is strengthen when you pray together, the family that prays together stays together. It is also fortified when you eat together, wear the same outfit, give all diligence to ensure you cleave to your spouse. God bless you.
