Text: Proverbs 13:24 KJV
24- Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.
Disciple in the home is a very essential part of home training. When a child misbehaves in the society, people often say such child lacks home training meaning he/she was not well taught or cultured. As parents, discipline in the home is not punishment and it is not child abuse if it is done out of love and not out of anger. When you discipline out of anger, you could do things you might regret later such as beating the child beyond limit (leaving him/her with scars, marks or even makes the child to abscond from home), throwing objects at your children e.t.c
From our text for today, discipline is scriptural and its a sign of love. He who spares the rod, spoils the child, such the bible says hates his children, but he who loves his children, spares not the rod. However, it is important to emphasis from our text that “…the one who loves their children is CAREFUL to discipline them. Discipline should be done with care and caution in order to be able to make the child understands that its a good way of life and not punishment or wickedness. You also need to understand and study your children so as to be to mete out the right disciple that bring forth correction to them. Finally, remember if you spare the rod you will spoil the child.
