Topic: SELF DISCIPLINE
Text: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 KJV
24- Know ye not that they which run in a
race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So
run, that ye may obtain.
25- And every man that striveth for the
mastery is temperate in all things. Now they
do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we
an incorruptible.
26- I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so
fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
27- But I keep under my body, and bring it
into subjection: lest that by any means,
when I have preached to others, I myself
should be a castaway.
Self discipline is defined as the ability to
make oneself do things that should be
done. It is also defined as the ability one has
to control and motivate oneself, stay on
track and do what is right.
In life every individual must be self
disciplined to move forward, likewise in
business, in studies, in ministry or at work
you need to have self discipline.
The race to the heavenly kingdom is a race
that requires self discipline, in other to
check oneself if one is still on the track. It is
easy to get carried away by a lot of activities
and happenings as we run this race, and if
care is not taken one may have lost the
track yet thinking he/she is on track.
Paul says it all in our text for today “But I
keep under my body, and bring it into
subjection: lest that by any means, when I
have preached to others, I myself should be
a castaway.” These words of Paul above
shows he was sincere and honest with
himself. Beloved, taking a clue from Paul
your self disciple should be done:
* honestly (don’t deceive yourself)
* with all sincerity
* with the help of the Holy spirit (Zechariah
4:6)
Remember God is no respecter of persons
(Acts 10:34) and that not everyone that say
to me Lord, Lord will enter into the kingdom
of heaven (Matt 7:21). God bless you
PRAYER
* Father, help me not to be a cast away at
the end of this christian race
* Father, I will not miss my portion in your
Kingdom in Jesus Name
