30th September
Text. : 1 Timothy 6:1-21
1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
1 Timothy 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
1 Timothy 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Greed is defined as Reprehensible acquisitiveness; insatiable desire for wealth or excessive desire to acquire or possess more than one needs or deserves. Greed does not give room for contentment, it is a point of insatiable desire. A greedy person has cravings that can never be satisfied, he keeps working himself out for endless desires.
Greed works with selfishness, make money at the expense of others, a greedy man cannot and will not make sacrifices for others. Greed is a key that opens doors to all kinds of evil, from our passage ‘ For the love of money is the root of all evil …’ A greedy man does abominable things to get his desires satisfied.
Godliness is the only cure to greed, greed is ungodly, is evil, everyone who commits his or her life to God through our Lord Jesus Christ gets the life of God. The ungodly cravings diffuse naturally when you commit your life to God. When you set your heart to walk in the waysof God.
It is absolutely dangerous to die with greed, destruction awaits everyone who will continually live in greed. If you notice greed in your life, cry out to God this day for help.
* Lord deliver me from greed.
Psalms 48,49
