Topic: THE JOY OF SALVATION Part 3
Text: Psalms 51:11-12 KJV
11- Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12- Restore unto me the joy of thy
salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit
In part 1&2 of this devotional, we learn that there is great joy in heaven over a soul that is saved (Luke 15:7,10), likewise, that
redeemed soul will also be filled with joy unspeakable, joy like a river, this is called Joy of Salvation (Acts 3:19).
However, the devil is always working at making a believer to lose the joy of salvation, replacing it with sorrow,
lamentation, frustration and
condemnation. Apart from sin and sorrow, another cause of the loss of joy of salvation is disconnection from the presence of God.
The joy and benefits of the Holy spirit in a believer is enormous. Holy spirit empowers for exploit, gives wisdom, knowledge & understanding, teaches, guides, comforts, directs, leads, reveals, and even speaks to us. All of these makes a believer to operate in a realm beyond the natural, making life easy, full of blessings and grace (Romans 8:14)
But when a believer is separated from the Holy spirit, life becomes miserable & difficult, decisions becomes a thing of trial and error, achievement now comes with struggle and hard labour, no more guidance, revelation and direction, such believer now operates in the realm of the natural that is as an ordinary man.
From our text above, David had suffered loss greatly because of his disconnection from God, so he cried “cast me not away from thy presence: take not thy Holy spirit from me, restore unto me the joy of thy salvation” Beloved, if you have lost the presence of God and the joy of salvation, pray that prayer of David today. God bless you
